Flash & iPad – iPhone Compatibility

We have discussed Apple Computer’s avoidance, of Flash before, but now with the iPad coming out it is more clear than ever that Apple has no plans to support Flash in the future. iPad’s are flying off of the shelves, and while we know a lot of people are hooked on the sensationalism of flash it looks like the popularity of flash for websites is going to continue to go down. Although flash websites don’t show up well on the iphone as we noted in our previous post (The Pros and Cons of Flash Websites) some clients still weren’t convinced that it was a big web design issue.  Now it is clear that with Apple’s iphone, and now the ipad flash websites are a thing of the past.

Apple Technology Doesn’t Support Flash

If you want fancy flash elements on your website, there are ways around it, however it is important to think about how many of your customers, and clients are going to view your website on an iphone or an ipad.  If you don’t cater your website to show up not only on every web browser, but also on iphones, and ipads, you are limiting your market.  Apple is so serious about ditching flash that they have put up a page on their website titled  iPad Ready Websites promoting popular websites that are flash-free and render properly on ipads.
