Web Design for eBooks
Having proper web design is essential for an ebook website. There is kind of a format that needs to be followed when a web designer is designing an ebook website. I am sure you have noticed a lot of unsightly ebook websites. At Realm we have designed a lot of ebook websites so we know a thing or two about ebook web design. Copy is another necessary component to an effective ebook website. We’ll talk more about ebook copy in a later post. We do offer copy writing services at Realm, so if you need some great copy drop us a line here. In this post we will cover ebook graphics, ebook website layout, and effective ebook selling techniques.
Ebook Cover Graphics
Don’t judge an ebook by it’s cover, yeah right. Go ahead and judge it
We give you permission. A good cover is a great way to showcase the contents of the ebook, and get your customer to buy! If you have written an ebook, and don’t think you should hire a professional graphic designer to design the cover, think again. This is not a good place to save money. Not to mention if you are going to sign up with let’s say Clickbank, and you are going to have affiliates promoting and selling your ebook. You need a great cover. There might be affiliate ads, and banner ads advertising your ebook, so the cover should look awesome, or your affiliates won’t want to put your ebook on their website. You are going to want the ebook title as big as possible without being unattractive. A visual representation of the content of the ebook. Remember ebook images are usually pretty small so keep that in mind. You are also going to want the 3d effect on the ebook cover graphic. If the ebook cover is flat, and isn’t made to look like an actual book, it’s no good. Below are some examples of ebook covers Realm has designed.

Ebook Website Layout
The layout of your website is always crucial, but in the case of an ebook website, it is important for selling. Your customer is on a journey from the top of the website to the bottom of the pages. You need to sell your ebook to them with words, and copy, but also with graphics, photos, and images that will connect to them on an emotional level. Using stock photos is a great way to do this. Keeping things flowing on an ebook website is important. Using bulleted lists, numbered lists, breaking the text up, and again using emotionally appealing images.
Choosing a Web Designer for my Ebook Website
This is just as important as choosing a web designer for a standard website, but in the case of an ebook website, it is really best if you find a web designer who has done ebook websites before.
